Why Should You Balance Your Life?

Think for a moment, if the planets, stars, comets, etc., in the universe, did not move within the rules, i.e., if time was manipulated, then what would be the situation? In the same way, what happens if you don’t live your life according to the rules?

This is your life, and it is the only one you have. You will never come back to this life if you lose it once. That’s the universal truth. If you don’t believe it, just think about the people who have died around you. Have they ever come back to their lives? No, no one comes back to this life. Once someone has died, you will never see them again.

When you are healthy, you can develop your skills, study, enjoy with your family, work, go on tours, and do anything you can. Health is the highest priority in your life. If your health is good, but you don’t have any good skills, your life will not go as you expect. That’s why communication skills and other significant skills are necessary in your life. Every time you need money – you want to go to the market, you want to take care of your health and have good food? You need money. You want to travel the world? You need money. To earn money, you need to do a business or a job. In the world, everything is a business; when you teach students and earn money from them, that’s a business. You are doing a job for a company; the company pays you when they profit from your help by selling their products or services. Anytime, you have value. That’s why balancing life is so important in religion, health, wealth and money, academic study, family and relationships, entertainment, and so on.

For example, you want to maintain good health; you need some money. Again, when you want to earn money, you need to take care of your health, because without health, you can’t work to earn money. That’s why one is related to the other. I can give you more and more examples, but I can’t fully explain how valuable balancing life is.

What does Islam say about Life Balance?

📑 “Thus, have We made you a justly balanced nation…” (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:143)

This verse underscores the importance of being balanced in all aspects of life.

📑 “Do good deeds properly, sincerely, and moderately. Always adopt a middle, moderate, regular course whereby you will reach your target (of paradise).” (Sahih Bukhari, 6463)

This hadith advises moderation in all actions to achieve success in this life and the hereafter.

📑 But seek, through that which Allah has given you, the home of the Hereafter; and [yet], do not forget your share of the world.” (Surah Al-Qasas, 28:77)

This verse encourages seeking success in the Hereafter without neglecting worldly responsibilities and pleasures.

📑 Narrated Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-As: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "O Abdullah! Have I not been informed that you fast all day and stand in prayer all night?” I said, “Yes, O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)!” He said, “Do not do that! Observe the fast sometimes and also leave them (the fast) at other times; stand up for the prayer at night and also sleep at night. Your body has a right over you, your eyes have a right over you, and your wife has a right over you.” (Sahih Bukhari)

This hadith highlights the importance of fulfilling one’s duties towards oneself, family, and others.

📑 On the authority of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “It is from the excellence of a (believer’s) Islam that he should leave that which does not concern him.” (Sunan Ibn Majah – 3976)

This hadith emphasizes avoiding unnecessary things that are not important in life. You should eliminate what is unnecessary from your life.

Islam provides a comprehensive framework for achieving life balance, emphasizing moderation, fulfilling duties, and seeking both worldly and spiritual success. By following these teachings and practical steps, one can achieve a balanced and fulfilling life that aligns with Islamic principles.
