How to stay focused while studying?

Most of the students get distracted when studying as well as me while studying. That’s because we can’t progress for a while, and exams are knocking at our door, and we become more stressed. Here, I want to ask you a question, are you getting continuously distracted when studying?  (Most people’s answer is ‘Yes!’)

Growing in life needs to focus on high impactful task consistency.  But distraction and procrastination is the main threat to our progress in studying or any work.  In the century of Twenty-first, People easily distracted in social media or others, this is digital distraction. I know, you may know about distractions. There are 3 types of distraction commonly: 

  • Digital Distraction (Social Media, Gaming, Watching videos etc)
  • Environmental Distraction (Such as ringing phones, television, and incoming e-mail.)
  • Emotional Distraction (Such as fear, doubt, and embarrassment, etc).

Formula of Study = Focus * Time. 

If you increase the rate of your focus or concentration on your study, you will achieve more in less time. The more you have time the more you can finish your other valuable tasks. And your life will be easy, and you can easily balance your life. Because, as a student, your task is not only to maintain academic grades but also needed to maintain family & relationships, good health, follow religion, etc. 

That’s for focus is an art! It’s not easy to achieve in the short term. Continuous improvement, getting yourself highly focused. 

So, Here is the most effective method that changed my life and helped me get a higher grade in high school,  which I will share with you to improve your focus while studying. This is the Pomodoro Technique.  Maybe you know about this technique but I peacefully said that if you follow this technique effectively for only 3 to 6 months, I believe that your life will be changed. 

5 Steps of getting focus using the Pomodoro Technique: 

Pomodoro Technique

Choose a task: Select the task you want to work on. (No multitasking) 

Set the timer: Set a timer for 25 minutes (one Pomodoro).

Work on the task: Focus on the task without any distractions until the timer rings.

Take a short break: Take a short break, typically around 5 minutes.

Repeat: Repeat the process. After completing four Pomodoro’s, take a longer break, usually around 15-30 minutes.

Tips-1

If you keep yourself focused after 25 minutes, or if you get flow in your task just follow progressive pomodoro technique. That means you will customize this as your condition, you can increase the timer 25 minutes to 30, 45 or 60 Minutes. But Don’t work more than 90 Minutes at once. If you increase your pomodoro time, you should increase your break time. 

Tips-2

In Break time, don’t go to social media or open your mobile phone. In the break time you can walk for a while, talk with your family members, drink a glass of water etc.
